創世紀一章二節希伯來文問題

這個問題困擾我有一段時間了.... 今天狠下心來花時間做research.... 但是因為不會希伯來文, 還是不太確定, 所以提出來問問....

創世紀一章二節說(中文恢復本) "而地變為荒廢空虛...."
英文恢復本說, "But the earth became waste and emptiness..."

我查了concordance, "became" 的Strong's number是01961, 大部分版本翻成was, 恢復本照字典翻成became是很準的.

不過我在查"而地變為荒廢空虛"的"而"的時候, 因為不會希伯來文所以還是搞不太清楚....

在原文裡, "而" 跟 "地" 兩個字不是分開的.... "而" 是 "地" 的字首. 希伯來文是長這樣子的:

<--地--><-而->

我照原文查"而地", 發現"而地" 在舊約出現38次. 其中有兩次"而地"的"而"是翻為"but" (申11:11, 結14:16), 其餘36次不是翻成"and"就是沒翻出來.

我想

大概是連接詞. 好像非常常用, 常放在名詞前面, 但好像有時翻"but", 有時翻"and", 有時不翻出來.

請問這個連接詞通常是依照上下文而決定怎麼翻的嗎? 我問這個是因為創1:2, 賽45:18, 伯38:4-7, 和伯9:5-7 這幾節應該是創1:2b之後是神的復造和生命的紀錄的重要證據..... 所以想把它搞清楚.

簡單介紹一下希伯來文。這個古老的文字只有22個字母，都是子音。你所看見在字母底下的記號乃是後人大約在十二世紀時，為了叫失散的以色列人不忘記他們本國的語言，也為著統一發音而發明的母音，於原文中沒有的。這語言是從右往左寫的，與一般拼音語言的寫法不同。所以，希伯來文第一個字母是在一行字的最右邊。

你所舉的創世記 1:2一開始的第一個字母乃是一個連結詞，是和英文中的and或but相同的連結詞，這個連結詞的被使用是相當的普遍，所以有許多繙譯者在一些地方就乾脆不繙，而究竟要怎麼繙，都看繙譯者要如何來解釋。

在創世記 1:2在這個連結詞之後，第二個字母，像兩根柱子，左邊沒有連結起來的 n，這是定冠詞，如同英文中的the，特別是加在一些專有名詞上，像太陽、地球、山等字前面。

然後，後面的三個字母乃是『地』的意思。我沒法打出或拷貝希伯來文，請見諒。

底下是一些較為著名的英文聖經所繙的創世記1:2，你可以看見，因為這個連結詞一再地被使用，所以，英文中一再地有and的出現。但是中文繙譯卻都將它略去不繙。NIV 則將這一節第一個連結詞繙成了now，第二個連結詞省略不繙，第三個就繙成and。可是要記得，英文中的and可以是：前後一樣意思或對等名詞的『和』、『及』，但也可是不相同的『而』或『且』，也可是沒有意義的語意，如同我們中國人在講話時，一邊思考時一邊講，就有『這個…這個』的出現。所以，也有繙譯者就不繙這個連結詞了。
